The biggest contender of characters acting like therapists would be The King's Hound, it is somehow worse than The Soul Stone War... there's just something so degrading about the way the MC is treated in that IF “(ノ _ <,, ) Don't get me started on the constant use of "love" and "dear"
This is the opposite side of those edgy IFs where the author straight-up does not care for the MC the way Marvel writers don't care for Spiderman (justice for my boy (╥__╥) Even a baby is not coddled as much as this. It's weird

Man The King's Hound is just not for me. Tbh I cant imagine most men playing that game and its perfectly fine ig. But thats not the only problem I have with the game. Like you said, the therapy sessions and how the characters keep coddling the MC.
Im like "bro stfu youre making this even worse, I feel like the new kid at a foreign school in my 5th grade". And also the forced circumstance with no autonomy. MC felt so female coded when i first played it and i played it long ago, dunno how it is now. Forcing a straight male MC into a gay marriage is not really angsty, i tried to give it a chance despite that but the game just felt so uncaring about it which made it even worse.
Maybe there has been a lot of changes since then but idk if ill try it again.

No, what you said is misleading. I said alliance would be sturdier for generations if they have kids. Having kids would mean that the kids has family on both sides. If there's no kids, the alliance would only stand until MC is alive, that is for one generation only.
MC's themself is the seventh born of their house, besides why does it matter if MC's kid gets to inherit the throne or not? As long as MC's kids represent both the houses, the alliance will stand. Is the MC's house so big that they have to marry the King to establish alliance? I dont remember much so you'll have to clarify.
I just saw one of the last asks in the tumblr. The author said that Arthur would be gender selectable between a man and trans woman. This says a lot and makes it clear i would not enjoy the game. Magic is fine. I didnt know something like that was introduced. And i fail to see how alliance for one lifetime is feasible. Makes it all the more stupid to decide to marry from a rebelling house to not establish a long term alliance. Might as well have saved the political marriage card when its useful.
Its clear the game is majorly made for queer people. The author had to bend so many stuff to write the story they wanted which is not a bad thing whatsoever, but it essentially reduces the roleplayablity of the game to a selective crowd. I've read a bunch of stories which also appeals to certain crowd so im not gonna complain that the game is very queer. I dont even know why im typing all this despite knowing this lmao.
Yeah at first I read nothing about it hopped into it blind, and it was enjoyable until one of my pet peeves in IFs happened, I hate being forced and helpless in situations for a long time. Everyone acted like it was no big deal, first off it’s a weird thing to do tbh, second the mentor figure or whatever romancing him lol, after a certain point I just started skipping and selecting the most rude options like burning the room and such. Such a weird structured story how people expect MC to be happy and all that. I’ll never return to it. If I’m going to be forced into a situation I want to at least have some agency.
I hated it because the whole story basically refused to allow both the MC and myself s the reader to move on and adapt to the situation. You're just left in an endless pity party in which the story goes on like you chose all the rude and angry options. You're basically forced into 'I hate everyone and everything' like the MC is still a child and not an adult who could understand nuance. Or that there's more ways to deal with grief and anger than lashing out and being destructive.
There's little to no difference. Your time is too precious to be spent on this IF, no to mention it updates at a snail's pace ε-(ｰдｰ)
There's been a discussion for Crown of Ashes and Flames here about how the King massacred MC's entire family because he's so sad his wife (whom he looooved sosososomuch) allegedly died at the hands of MC's older sister, but then it basically became meaningless because not long after, the King began a romance with his b*tch-knight anyway (the one that was also there massacring MC's family but he's a good guy you see cause he pitied the MC ( ꐦ𝅒_𝅒) and the dead queen is forgotten just like that. It's so f*cking frustrating to read, like we have to watch this r*tarded-homicidal-bast*rd getting all smitten and lovey-dovey with another homicidal-b*stard because the author wants to insert a gay romance into the story (ꐦ○_○)
Also, MC's family is innocent. I mean, the King has killed their two sons before laying waste to the entire bloodline and stupid Mommy and Daddy did nothing! There's enough reason for MC's family to rebel and start an uprising at that point but noooooooooo

Another annoying as hell thing that The King's Hound and Fields of Asphodel shares is the absolute butchering of mythology. I'm a fan of both Arthurian Legend and Greek mythology (and any legends/myths honestly) and I'm so disappointed in how the authors treat those myths, completely twisting them until nothing remains except for some similar names and background. When I play IFs that is made after certain mythology, I want to feel like the MC is in that mythology. I want King Arthur to be King Arthur and not some Instagram mental-health guru, and I want the Greek deities to be Greek deities ( ≖‿ ≖ ) ✧
Funnily enough, my problem was the opposite: I felt like the game wouldn't let me play a truly standoffish, I-hate-everything character since for example you're forced to be friends with Fadiya (?) no matter what, and a lot of the "default" (not choice-related) text didn't seem to be written with a cold MC in mind.
This. The pity party and us being a little ***** made it even more insufferable. This guy kills your entire family and takes you a prisioner, mocks you on daily basis, 'marries' you to mock you even furthur, and all you can to do is watch like a useless idiot. Best try your hand at murder and face the consequences that live like that. I'd say the fault lies with the writer for forcing us to spend time in unsavoury circumstance for not 2 or 3 chapters but for probably an entire game?? Imagine an MC twiddling their thumb for a full game and letting the waters take them. The worst thing a story can have is not an unlikeable MC, but rather an useless MC. At the very least, the writer doesn't even allow us to be rebellious and devious.
Most devious MC can be in that story was burning the late Queen's room down, but after that there's a time skip and we see the King being all hunky-dory. I want to see him frustrated damn it! I want him to break down and lash out and show us that our action has hurt him deeply because we just destroyed something he deeply cherish!! To me, this just further proves that the King don't actually care for his late wife, it was only a convenient excuse for him to kill a possible threat to the crown. Benevolent King my as5
This is major reason on why I dislike this IF. All the characters are either A bland as hell B Assholes C being an enabler to Assholes or D just inconsistent. You're telling me that the king love his wife so much that he killed an royal family on hearsay that their daughter might have killed your spouse traumatised and married an innocent child who doesn't even know what the hell is happening and then just a couple of years later you're suddenly in budding romance with your knight and your supposed to just be okay with it??? Like wtf man I thought this would be slow-burning revenge if in which you would patiently try to topple the king but nope gay romance comdey between king and knight. Also the game say that no one cares that your whole family is killed and that Lucien the king is universally beloved? I'm sorry but that's not the reaction that occurs when you kill every one except for a child of family that rules over an entire ****ing kingdom. And even without it being royalty you're telling me nobody with a brain realize how unstable the king is that on just some unproven claims he waged a war murdered a royal family and married an underage kid and absolutely no one cares ? My biggest gripe is that if you think about the plot it's flimsier then cardboard and has more holes then Swiss cheese which can be maybe forgiven if the characters are charming. Spoiler they are not. Most of them are ******* who take their unjustified rage on a innocent child or boring as lightly toasted white bread.
Speaking of, is it ever explained why the MC's family was seemingly so disliked that people are happy they're gone/don't care? Maybe I missed something, idk.
It's kind of like the opposite of Arcadie, where I couldn't understand why would anyone want to defend the MC's warmongering family.
Also a pet peeve, but it's kinda odd how the game seems to push you into this snarky relationship with Luceris. Like, it would've made more sense if the author had the gall to make him an RO, but it's supposed to be a revenge story. Why are we trading barbs again?
