On a side note; anyone knows what's changed in The Six That Thrive? It's been rewritten but I swear the writing's still the same?? Is the change merely cosmetic and only in the code? Cause the writing is kinda janky, and I was excited to see how it has improved in the rewrite but as I said, nothing seems to change??????? What was all the wait for then 💀
I'm not sure if you've played the rewrite up to Chapter 4 before it was made public. If you did, then Chapters 5 and 6 would be the only new content ( well, i think, i didn't restart it from the beginning ). But if you're referring to the original version, then yes, it’s definitely different now. It’s still not 100% clear at times, and the dialogue can feel disjointed, characters might suddenly switch topics, refer to things that didn’t happen, or ignore things that did happen. Buuuut despite that, it’s still an improvement over the first version.

Infamous' drama in the newest chapter with leaked photo of MC & Vic in the diner kinda made me super uncomfortable.

It'd be fine if this drama only add to the MC band's cheating allegation, but the game implying that people thinking MC is homewrecking ValenReign took me right out of the story because my MC is a gay dude. With M!Seven as his ex + MC being somewhat famous with social media presence and all that I thought him being gay would be public knowledge already and people with some common sense would know he'll never ever hit on Vic or feel anything remotely romantic or sexual toward her, but nope, the game didn't acknowledge this at all.

Is this just me thinking too much or maybe I didn't read it right?

Come to think of it, being forced to go with Vic to G's apartments was such a weird railroading.

Another thing I want to get off my chest about Infamous: I hate MC parents with a burning passion and wish we have the option to not care and not interact with them at all. I don't care that they're complicated people or whatever, they're still toxic as heck.

This **** is still being developed?

All the amazing IF's are dead now, but this still exists!?!???!! Why, why.

Infamous is so hardcoded towards drama and angst to the point that it's sometimes dramatic without substance. Still it's better than some drama IFs out there.

The thing is, when you advertise an IF as a 'music' IF, I'd expect something like 70% music and the rest is romance, drama, subplots and stuff. But Infamous is the opposite of it. There's barely anything significantly related to music, it's all just superficial. The best example of this CTOS. I love that it's mostly you climbing through the ranks, trying to make it professional, becoming the best player with proper sports drama and nice sprinkles of relationship drama and wholesome stuff. We need more IFs like this.

Wasn’t this changed? I remember that they just think that she is helping you cheat in the show if the mc wasn’t into women.

Just found out Kingdoms and Empires got an update after two years... only to see it's STILL stuck in the prologue. At this rate only my grandchildren will get to play the full game
I just played it and my god, I hate the decision system, it takes real talent to go a step beyond Fallout 4's system, and not give any kind of choice to the player in a game of choices. Also is it just me or why do I get so embarrassed by some of the protagonist's answers?

The writing is very modernist/teenager-ish imo, though thats probably the writer's angle since you got Isekai'd.

Yet another story that gets stagnated because the author is obsessed with rewriting what was already good. If I had a nickel every time this happened I'd have four (The Exile, Twilight Strikes, Knights of Evallon, and this one). Which isn’t much, but it's annoying it has happened four times on the IFs I were following.

I feel like what's going to end up generating that kind of writing is a narrative discrepancy, when the game has to get violent or murky, since it's a medieval fantasy at the end of the day, which at worst is going to lead to another rewrite. As for the rewrites lmao, the first one I read was the Alabama version where they want you to get engaged to your cousin which makes sense for a middle age, then the version that ends in the battle against the rebels and now this version which in some parts is inferior to the previous ones.

1. Question for the honorable council: since infamous sucks (dropped it a while ago), why do people who dislike it still follow and play the demo + side stories😂

2. I hope the writer stops rewriting KaE any more in the future. As far as I skimmed through the public update, the desperation to get rid of the childhood arc once and for all really showed, as well as his awkwardness in writing realistic interactions between children. In the previous versions he got to cover that flaw through comedic or "OP MC" moments.

Overall I'm neutral about it. Good points in the pacing and early char. intro. (Including the politics), but I'm not really a fan of the epilogue part. It may work in a VN but not in the interactuve fiction format as it skims TOO much over important stuff Gonna keep an eye on the development for now.

Anyway, anyone got any good demo reccs? It's been a while since I played anything COG/HG demos.

People hate-read it llol. Either that... or they keep reading because they still have a slight hope it’ll eventually get better (It wont). As for me, I dropped it long ago and will never touch it again.

I have no hopes for KaE anymore. The author got lost in the world he created 😭In fact I'm expecting even more side stories and rewrites in the future.

Being critical of a game and disliking a game are two different things.

Constant rewrites like this are why I think most writers jump the gun with advertising on Tumblr or the CoG forums (especially when they throw Patreon into the mix). Maybe KaE's writer will beat the odds but at this point I have zero interest in reading yet another prologue that'll most likely go nowhere for years.

Bride of Shadows if you don't mind female-locked MCs (pregnancy and childrearing are some of the main focuses of the work) and are fine with the dark romance genre. It's very NSFW heavy as well so ymmv. The writer is, thankfully, also consistent with updates as well which is a major plus.

Demonology: Incubus is NSFW with one love interest, first chapter is free and the rest are $1 USD each. Seventh chapter is set to release this weekend.

There's also God-Cursed, Burning Academia, Viatica (complete + free), and Cantata which have fairly long demos at this time. And I think that's about it for the ones I know and have been keeping tabs on recently.

As far as I remember God Cursed next update supposedly in April or May, so I was kind off on the fence whether to drop it or not. And after looking at the LIs' official art which were 180° different from my imagination I was like "yeaaaa nope" this is why sometimes it's better not to commission official arts ffs
But I'm glad Incubus' next chapter will be released very soon

I'm amazed at the dedication (for those who actually hate-read🤣).

Still going to keep an eye on KaE just because the premise really piqued my interest.

And thanks for the recs LosLorento. Going to try them out in a bit.

On the premise of this topic I find myself having to name a recent game that left me quite disappointed. That game is *In The Halls Of Asgard*. Where to begin.., first, maybe it was the writing style that I was just not a fan of. The concept dealing with gods and such I always have liked, this was no exception, I liked the concept, that said, it just seemed to jump from this point to that point with no real purpose or even idea of why it was going to said points. Some of the "quests" and I use the term loosely bare;y served a purpose rather then to just have you do things that really did not matter much at all, for example some builder dude offers to build a wall but he won't do it unless Odin makes goddess chick marry him, you can accept this or not, if not then Odin is like okay good call now you build the wall. First, let me get this right, Odin, a egotistical, pride driven narcissist would even consider being dictated to by some nobody even to begin with? Nah, that is like Zeus letting anyone tell him what he is going to do. This is just one example. Then there is the end, all these pointless quests leading to some final battle, Ragnarok that lasts like a few paragraphs and then all done. Now, before people respond to what I am about to say next, I know that the author states that they are ace and don't like writing anything romance at all in their story, okay cool, fine, but, why even go into any detail of how all these other gods and goddesses are married, has kids, love one another but never even allowing the MC to even try and find the same. I understand not wanting to write romance scenes and all but it still could have been allowed for the MC to at least get in a relationship with someone from the list of friends that the MC has established, you don't have to write in any romance such as dates and such, just a few paragraphs mentioning the MC wishing such and then allowing the person MC likes to reciprocate and leave it at that. All in all, I just found the story very bland and to be frank boring. That is my two cents, of course it is just my opinion, if you enjoyed it then awesome.

I think you're right, why in a world as creative as Norse mythology, where a good author would let their mind run free and write great things or events, does this game feel so empty as if it were a summary? The characters, despite being gods, also lack depth and impact. And that's not even counting the fact that despite being gods, we barely interact with humans in Midgard.

You are absolutely right about your assessment on Midgard. Utilizing the whole Midgard aspect could have lifted this story to great heights but instead it is treated like an after-thought and just shelved as if it was just some footnote. As for your comment about how the gods were utilized, I mean seriously, Loki was treated like some oaf when he is one of the more intelligent of the gods, yes he is the trickster god but he was never some mindless goon that did not think his plans through. Even Loki's three kids was just kind of shoe-horned in there as merely some tool only to be used in the end and even then not very much, only Loki's Puppy-boy had anything interesting use and that is only if you used him to get the Cauldron and the brief part where you can get Odin to let him stay rather then being exiled or whatever.
