Love after death author gives weekly updates about how many words they've written/coded on their discord server so it's not dead
I'm specifically talking about it from a technical standpoint on how their role in the story could be done better. I'm not saying that I want Maya as an RO or even that I want to romance her. Just that as a character within the confines of the plot as it's been laid out (a reality tv show competition) she has the better motivations, desires, and willingness to be involved that Sebastian (up to chapter 4 mind since I have not and probably will not read chapter 5 anytime soon) as a character does not. And would have been a more interesting choice for RO than her dad as a result.
The twist in this really peeved me off honestly the name is meaning less at this point it a stupid thing to do and just doesn't make sence with the story

I knew E wasn’t actually dead. Their mother hates our guts, wouldn’t let us see them or even attend the funeral, so it didn’t seem too far fetched that she would hide their survival. I figured it would either turn out that they were in a long coma and the story would explore whether the MC’s love could withstand time, that the MC would eventually accept that they were never going to wake up and turn over a new leaf, or that E would end up with memory loss. I think the title is fitting since E did technically “die,” but that kind of twist is so common that I saw it coming.

See I didn't see if coming, I believe there was anothe IF or a VN around the time is was released or a couple of years before (honestly I remember seeing it but never read it). It was all about coming to terms with the lost of your partner and moving on, and I thought what a great premise for a story. So when I started reading this I was like was what a breath of fresh air the same of stuff I see on tumblr. Then when I read that that was happening, I was put off. I just don't get why we have to complicate a good story by add such a convoluted idea to it. I was confused cause, I kept thinking why? Just why?. It feels like their trying to avoid hurting anyone when the whole point is about being hurt accepting that and moving on.
it wont be simple road, I think main idea would be in hurt and pain to see how the same person exist without being there anymore, shock/trauma/damaged body and mind, erased personality. That's the loss of the whole different spectre. But drama with E mother seems so cheap unconviensing soap
I miss the old version of bride od shadows. Tbh when she first announced the rewrite and the 3 versions I feared for the worst. And unfortunately i think i'll be proved right this time.She slowed down with the updates, so I am not so sure if she will be able to keep up the pace
(and I am going to say it about the bride: I preferred the game pre-rewrite, since the author obviously strongly favours Valdricht, and it shows even more in the newer version)
Attollo is imo the coolest take on 'so you got transported into this freaky paranormal-ish city' IF trope out there.
3 version is WAY too much work, i really dont think she'll be able to deliver the quality she's expecting to. And honestly? I do not undertand the need for it. Maybe 2 versions for those that dont wish to go for poly but Dark maiden version I feel like its completely unnecessary. The author mentioned that she did it because there were a lot of people complaning about some problematic things (abuse, derogatory language,objectification, sexism...), but that is such a dumb reason. There's even VERY explicit warnings about these things right at the beginning. The old version was perfectly fine as it was. It managed to balance those dark themes quite nicely without overdoing it too much. But with the rewrite all got flushed down the drain. In dark maiden version the guys are ****ing disgusting, I'm not even joking. The way they talk about the MC and treat her is disgusting. Isnt dark romance supposed to be angsty and questionably hot? Cause I finished the story jsut feeling like crap.
And Classic version feels pointless once you read DM, not to mention she took out several heartwrenching and dark scenes out of it so its terribly boring.
At this point I'm just trusting the process cause I'm really interested in the whole pregnancy and motherhood part, but I'm almost 100% this is not gonna work out
Nah, in the new update MC comments how G's younger sis is 18 and Maya is just a couple or so years behind her but there is a big difference in their attitudes.
That aside. So I have finally, finally managed to wade through the previous chapters and play the update and ummmm
- Amy needs a beta squad. Badly. The sheer number of half-cut passages and typos is astonishing and I am someone who usually misses the typos if they are minor.
- Can anyone tell me why tf is my MC who is someone who swore off alcohol and partying by the beginning of the game is secretly rationing a bottle of brandy??? I didn't even have a choice of not doing it, and my MC drank zero times? Same thing with dining with G's fam and MC not having an option to refuse the initial alcohol. UGH.
- I have decided to play an unapologetic homewrecker with G and, sue me, but I liked it.
- I also want a petition to remove Seb from interactions if you are uninterested. Other characters at least bring something to the story, doesn't matter if you like them or not. Like, G and V are a look into a bad part of the fame, August is a fresh face in your lil' codependent mess of a group, Sev is a representative of a toxic past, Orion is a voice of reason in this circus and someone who shares your passion for music, but what is Sebastian's purpose, narrative-wise? I agree that combining him with Maya (maybe an older fan who had a middle-life crisis and decided to follow a tour?) into a single coherent character would've been waaaay smarter.
- Does anyone know if there is any way to win the lyric swap competition? I tried diff combos but I keep landing somewhere in the middle.
- Also, my MC's group is sooo screwed the next stage because I kept picking all the soloist options, oops.
Yeah, didn't Amy change it so that Maya is younger? I think it was during the rewrite. But I'm pretty sure Maya used to be 18 and was supposed to be going to college soon and the whole BOTB trip with Seb was supposed to be like a gift from him and a way for them to spend time together before she goes to uni? Then I think Amy ended up making her younger by a few years (I think she's like 16 now?) because she said that it makes more sense for the story or something. It's been a while but that's what I remember her saying.
OMG. YES!! I forgot to mention this in my previous posts, but with every chapter my irritation with the forced Seb interactions grows stronger and stronger lol. Amy fixed it a bit during the rewrites (remember how in one of the early chapters, you were forced to walk him and Maya to their hotel...) but now it feels like she's making the same mistakes. I haven't read the new chapter yet, but I remember how in the previous one, there was this scene where the MC was riding in like a golf cart or something with G's manager? And then the MC sees Seb in a bar and ditches the manager to go talk to him. And like don't get me wrong, I get that the point was that the MC feels really weirded out by Viktor and wanted to get out of the conversation and his presence, so they jumped on Seb as an excuse. But like it was still really odd to me and it feels like my MC came off as a weirdo
Like I get it if you had previously been choosing Seb options to hang out and spend time with him, but I had not been choosing any of those for my MC, so she had basically had a couple of short interactions with Seb and Maya prior to this and it was so strange to have her immediately run to talk to him?? I feel like this game suffers from having way too many ROs and side ROs or whatever it is they're called, so some of them are inevitably gonna end up coming off like they are shoehorned in the narrative. Most of them at least have pretty important plot relevance but Seb is just kinda there lmfao. I get that there will probably be some plot w him and Maya too but he just feels way too shoehorned in as it is, and even if his plot ends up being good, it's not gonna change the fact that he's forced on you in the initial chapters. I'm not trying to hate on Seb or people who like him lol, I know that he's already the least popular main ROs as it is. I just struggle to see the point of him in the story.
I think it is some sort of bug? I have seen quite a few people talking about it. I remember that even in the previous chapter's release, the variables for drinking were messed up (again lol) and swapped or something, so it made MCs who drink refuse drinks, while it made MCs who didn't drink start slamming down drinks lmao.
That's the one part I've always been dubious of with Infamous. I am assuming there's always a set winner for each challenge but in unique circumstances like the most recent challenge there are 2 possible winners (whoever you wrote for and if you didn't sabotage their song being the variables?). I just don't have much faith in Infamous for MC's band winning through stat checks or the like because they will only win when Amy wants them to for the plot. I'm waiting for her to patch up some bugs before I finally play the new chapter.
There is, ye. But the game is so bugged rn that planets need to align for you to naturally get it. If you use console then change the 'points' stat to like 6, and you'll get the win. From what i've seen of the code tho, it requires playing to your strengths stat wise when performing, and for ex. with UW picking choices like: 'write in blake's style'; 'write to benefit UW'; 'write about B and G'...
You can also get eliminated during this challenge, i think 2-5 points is the mid outcome, 1-0 is elimination, but i don't remember exactly.
Ye it's a bug, it's tied to a 'substance_cope' stat i think? Basically by default it's set to 50, but the checks for those ch5 scenes are like 'if substance_cope <2 then mc doesn't drink otherwise..'
Again, changing it in console should do the trick, and then the game actually asks you if you want to drink as opposed to mc doing it without player input.
All this to say i had to do a lot of console stat manipulating to get things to work properly.
Thankfully I was wrong on that. I also am glad that I'm waiting to play because her releases are always so buggy. The most buggy, actually from the ones that I play. I do still think there will be set winning situations like with MC's bands first win (how dismal it is that MC just won by default, i get it was needed for the plot but it makes MC's band feel weak).

I played it a while buck it was.... ok? I guess? Like I wasn't annoyed particularly at any point and I do remember and liked some parts of it like the interactions of the MC and their Mother, but I found most of the characters and the story itself to be not particularly interesting or memorable. Just another kind of meh superhero CoG.

To me it kind of makes no sense that you have all these options to say 'oh yeah, I will keep my distance so that your parasocial teenage daughter doesn't get any wrong(er) ideas' but in the end you barely do that? Idk, if Amy included Maya as a president of MC's group fanclub or smth and made her sort of known to either MC or at least Orion... maybe all the interactions wouldn't read as THAT random.
I cannot believe that people actually thought that IF authors would willingly hand out htmls of their games. They stopped doing that when dashingdon started and for Twine games I can only think of a few that even allow you to download them. Some of you give too much credit to authors. You'd think that they'd give offline access to their paying supporters but you'd be so wrong. That's why I only subscribe to patreons that allow you to download the content they offer (so, almost no IF authors). What do you mean, I lose access to everything I gained on that tier because I can't pay for the next month? That's not worth my money.
Yeah, I could sort of forgive it for cheaper Patreons, but for pricier ones, like Wayfarer? The EA tier costs like an indie game on steam, and the access is not even permanent.
Money hungry dogs, but honestly, I can't even blame them for doing it. It's the people that pay for it and don't say a damn about it that are the actual problem.
