Dude what the hell? I dont want them to pass away but not because of this site. Why would they pass away? Also are you afraid you may just pass away at any time because that's possible. Don't worry about things you can't control, especially about things like this

I'm worried about this site in the future what if Dan and Dei somehow passes away who's gonna replace them? Will their descendants succeed them or become a dissapointments? Whatever, the case i just dont want what happened to Synapse X to happen on this site.
If that very specific and improbable thing happens and you're worried, how about you do it? It's not that hard. I'd go back to making my own if they stopped putting out mods. I wouldn't share them since I live in the land of DMCA, but almost anyone could do it if they're willing to put in the time. If I saw enough interest and got approval from someone in charge as to avoid stepping on toes, I'd post a guide. The simplified version is: Unpack APK, modify choicescript_stats with a new menu option for the stats page, add options that when selected modify stats, variables, flags, etc., test it, sign and recompile, patch for license (last two steps could probably be combined with the right tools). You could Google and learn it. The tools are free. At least for how Dei does it. Dan uses software called Website 2 APK Builder to make those menus and probably also does a bit of JS work to modify new engine versions as they appear as to make them work with it. Bit more involved. I've always figured the most valuable thing they give us is their time. So if you value it enough to give your time, go for it. Otherwise, why bother complaining about remote possibilities?

I hope they have a long life full of enjoyment and fulfillment.

My friend, modding, if you take the time to learn it, will become easy, and there are many people who will help you learn here, so live in the present and don't worry about the future

I honestly more worried about the hosted game on official forum, i talk with some people who drop their project said they drop it because of us doing rampant piracy, can't really blame them and It's true I'm shameless because i use free mod but yeah can't blame them

not trying to be unsympathetic but as long as you make digital media/product, it will be easily pirated. not just IFs, music is easily pirated, artwork is easily stolen and gets claimed by others, not to mention games (even triple A developers/publishers can't truly make a DRM that's un-pirate-able.)

so yeah when i hear that what i truly hear is "i have other reason(s) why i dropped the project (be it laziness, losing motivation, etc) but imma blame pirates so it looks cooler"

if you don't want your product to get pirated you gotta create an invincible DRM, which is like impossible. so good luck with that.

Piracy affects smaller 'niches' more than people realise.

It's one thing to pirate a triple A videogame — they'll always sell, because they're the most popular and will allow the creators income no matter how many manage to pirate the game and share it on piracy websites. Then there's smaller industries, the niches (romance visual novels come to mind as well, just like most text-based games), which do offer a large selection of games, but by no means does it mean that every small creator with a patreon is able to make a living out of it. I'm not sure about finished products, but the income can't be as high as a game that sells a minimum of a million copies. And when small niche content is pirated, it can be detrimental to the authors.

People are more comfortable playing for 'certain' entertainment. With niches, it can be a hit and miss. There's money at play, money that could be spent on more important things. Niche titles are not considered as 'important' due to appealing to a smaller demographic.

I'm a pirate at heart, but spend money on it when I'm able to. I often buy games I've already pirated and played solely because I want to support the author. But I'm also a content creator for a different industry, and trust me when I say piracy can definitely be detrimental on some occasions. This is not to say that all piracy is wrong, but it's just disrespectful to deny the effect that piracy can have on small creative spaces. if you pirate, at least be aware of what you're doing.

Most people like to buy a game the first week it publishes. One thing this website could do is wait maybe 7 days to post a mod game that has just been released. People get to pirate their game, and impulsive people who want to play it now will buy it.

Ah yes 25% which authors get from sales (rest goes to cog) would be a "huge" difference if you force the pirates to purchase the product (majority still wouldn't buy it anyway), any serious author uses cog only for advertisements while patreon is their actual income...You would only be supporting CoG (not in large amount as I already said) and they don't deserve any support whatsoever, the more authors dip them for twine the better for community future

Im not talking about only COG. I'm talking about all games. Twine games are also posted here and are pirated.

Patreon content is posted in here as well... which kind of defeats the point of saying it's done to avoid giving money to COG. It still affects the authors' income in the end. I am one of those people who benefit from said content being posted in this forum but I think it's best being somewhat realistic with the repercussions.

Vous tous, porcs détracteurs qui vous plaignez du piratage, mais qui vous cachez toujours dans nos forums, veuillez la fermer ou je demanderai aux administrateurs de le faire.

Tu étais prévenu 🤍

man, not going to lie. i would love to learn this. the software dan used, can it be done with a phone or do we required computer for this one? damn, now I'm very intrigued. I know some basic to change the stats, but that's the limit to my knowledge. would appreciate if you can give some more insights, if you're willing?
