There is no way she doesn't know about mc and mei's relationship and she may be possessive but I think she wants mc to her first before everyone type of possessive

Honestly the more I think about it she might be the one who set Ai up, no ons in the sect had heard about that ice bath ****, MC does alot of research and can't come up with one text about it. I think the rogues did this to keep a leash on the mc, to give them an incentive to join their side.

Ai was definitely set up as you said the manual was something none of the disciples had heard of, and the more obvious indicator being the ice water (can't remember the exact name) is usually sold in vials for quite a bit of gold yet Ai who is of humble origins was able to get a bath tubs worth of the stuff. The rogues are the most obvious choice since Xiwen magically appears when we are desperate to help. However let's not forget that our union with Ai is frowned upon by society, many want to see us fail, or it could be a ploy simply to make us paranoid and reluctant to take sides, unfortunately we do not know enough. I really we hope that we can still pursue freeing Ai regardless of what was said during the Xiwen confrontation.
