Stories that left you disappointed for a reason

Project Hadea had the same problem. Like, the mc just met the kid, literally a few minutes before the others, but for some reason the crazy mercenary is expected to be their caretaker.
Same here, people judge you about being a good parent, as getting crap for not being one, I'm very much like "okay then you take the child, I literally found her randomly" I mean you can literally murder someone on the ship. I'm not the right person to take care of this child.

Went through the list of Tumblr blogs I was subscribed to. There's a bunch of blogs that were last updated months ago, although idk, maybe they're active on their Patreons instead. Virtue's End (six months), Eyes of Shan (also six months), Porthecrawl Witness came back and is now silent again... and there are a couple that's been inactive for a year+ that will probably never come back but hope dies last
I'll be very happy if any of the ones I like will get finished sometime TT
For the less-known WIPs, I want The Catalyst back dammit

I went through my sub list, and, dang, Vendetta was last updated a whole year ago... I am trying hard to remember at least one tumblr author I remember that has actually finished their game, and, wow, it's literally only CC Hill and the Superstition author (if you count separate seasons as finished games)... I recently saw someone writing about ppl interacting less with IF authors, but, man, I literally have trust issues by now.

The author of BloodMoon, as well, who I think was almost done with Thicker Than and published a traditional book as well in the meantime. Creme de la Creme author is on Tumblr, too... The Golden Rose... There are blogs for Sword of Rhivenia and Saturnine. Oh, and Leas, although it's been inactive lately. The Night Market. ...alright, that's enough lol

I recently saw someone writing about ppl interacting less with IF authors
Honestly, a lot of authors I see complain about this are doing fairly well, in my opinion. Not everyone is going to pull those Wayhaven/Infamous numbers.
But the latest post was actually more about IF authors interacting less with other IF authors. You have big names either retreating to their Patreons or reblogging other big names, and then there's everyone else struggling with visibility.

The author of Throne of Blood said they had finished the first book recently. And that they want to send it to HG.

of course they did lol. tumblr slowkilled the WiP scene
Nope it was the mean and rude supporters giving them mental breakdowns, making them quit, ruining their motivation. Definitely wasn’t pointless asks being answered when your Wip doesn’t exist or hasn’t been updated in a year nope. Wasn’t the same type of stories just being repeated swear like 85% of stories I seen reblogged on tumblr had to do with royalty. Not a bad thing, but ffs.

Worldjerking

CoG could fix all this if they enforced their patreon-month = wont publish you rule. And say you have to make a WiP thread on the forum before any other platform. That'll kill the demoless slop

Hell throw a pop up warning you about that when you download choicescript, so no one can say they didnt know

creating demoless Wips
And yet these keep getting tons of notes and asks, sometimes more than WiPs with demos ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Somehow...

The thing is that those samey WiPs that fit the zeitgeist get a ton of attention even when demoless. It's other works that might fail to attract attention.

Personally, I'm not following anything w/o a demo.

Yea I saw a post from Adoriel's Tears posting the same thing, but I can't help but wonder, interact with what?

I feel like a scratch record, if you want people to interact more with your content then actually provide content.
You sit with demoless pages and demos that haven't been updated in months, with basically 1/2 chapters and expect people to comment. Your constantly plugging your patreon and expecting interaction. Like what are you expecting me to provide to you?

The IF community also feel fanatic in the sense that no author can do wrong, even when everyone can see they are. Like noone wants to interact with pages that can't take critism and feedback.

Are you serious right now???? How dare you! Do you know how hard it is to come up with an interesting premise??? Do you expect me to follow through?? I have to answer 100 asks a day you expect us to also write?? Announcement do to this post here I’m taking a break for my mental I’m sorry truly I know I said the demo was releasing soon, but stuff like this is just upsetting just give me a few months to get my head in the right place, but in the meantime send me some asks! I’ll be happy to answer about ROs we know everything about even though we’ve played 0 seconds of the game.

You forgot to plug your patreon in but I'll forgive you this time.

One of very first IFs is actually a secret third thing, hasn't been updated publically in two years and is locked behind an expensive Patreon that's mostly about the creator's awful original fiction.

Another writer promised that they're going to update the demo after dashington shut down, gave a deadline and then threw a tantrum when people kept them to said deadline and turned off all asks.

The IF scene is just filled with people who want the benefits of having a fan base but never the actual work of having a fan base.

I'm curious. Is it Shepherds of Haven? ...or is SoH even older?

I have to answer 100 asks a day
It's quite funny when you realize you'd rather not have a hundred thirsty 'what is the color of ROs underwear' asks in your inbox daily. Or weirdly specific mildly uncomfortable scenarios like 'how would ROs handle MCs who cry all the time & won't take a step without someone holding their hand'.
All hail unpopularity. Just you, and the hobby you enjoy, and maybe someone will have fun reading it.

Speaking of tumblr probably sound like a dick for this but I kinda laughed when the god a villains Author lost their tumblr they actually reopened their COG thread and returned to talk about it. Literally panicked and stuff about it, while saying update soon they even created a new one maybe should’ve took the time to actually write lol. Actually is one of the only Tumblr accounts I actually unfollowed and I don’t even use it just check the site once a week that’s how annoyed the asks answering was. Still making like 100 a month on Patreon and you might not say it’s much but they literally haven’t posted in 6 months lol. Wants to be the abyssal author so bad. No like the COG thread was closed since February 2024 but they came back immediately when their tumblr got deleted lol, definitely just likes the attention you get with an IF
