tbh at this point if I see no acc activity for half a year, I assume the IF was abandoned.

i don't follow that IF but I randomly came across it on my Tumblr feed. the author said they had gotten a new laptop at last so they're able to get back into writing
Seems like Lost In Limbo vn dev's going in direction of Na Daoine Maithe or whatever that vn called. Good thing i learned after Lunaris Games to not invest in early accesses and kickstarters.
I swear, i'm gonna lose my **** if Touchstarved make it "by chapter" release or "by charachter". I loathe the "by day updates" trend in VN sphere so much and there's more and more of these

The Exile still kind of disappoints me, I enjoyed the IF and didn't really ever see the point in the move to twine and rewrite considering the OG CS version was around half finished at the time being around chapter 6 I think if I remember right. But yeah the last game Update was last February and their last tumblr reblog was last June.
To be fair, they delivered until the disaster of Errant kingdom happened. I loathe that I bought EK on steam based on the previous good faith and in return received.... whatever THAT was.

I consider 1 year and a half to 2 years as abandoned. half a year is understandable as people are busy.
I think they mean it releases in episodes instead of all at once. So you pay for a project but it won't be done for several years. please lmk if I'm wrong @Kein
I kind of understand particularly with the word count bloat being what it is at this point that some IF's just aren't going to consistently get out even one update a year, but the ones where the author is just dark for 6+ months is certainly a red flag atleast.
Well, there wasn't really drama. They just decided to release game by characters and also by chapters. Its just annoying that I'm not interested in all of them and will have to wait years to get the stories of a characters that im interested in. Obscura also drip feeding. Lost in limbo now gonna be releasing game by charachter from what i saw on their patreon post. Well at least they are transparent about their issues.
I supported EK kickstarter and had early acces on steam. It was such a humiliating expirience. WTNC was silly vn, pretty linear - but i still enjoyed it. So i decided why not support devs and demo was pretty intresting... In the end, after years of promises and radio silence - i got sh*t story with sh*t romances(if you even can call them that) and also ugly cg's. And mind you, they still have unreleased Call Me Under that they also kickstarted money for.

There's also so much bugs in twine version of The Exile. This is so ****ing sad. I wish author just returned to choice script and we all can pretend that twine never happened. Like, u can put pictures in cs version too.

Adoriel’s Tears and Kindling both have mothers raising you alone.
Wayfarer — Varyn is more of a teacher/master figure, but I personally see Sero as a parental figure since they’ve watched the MC grow up.
The Brightest Stars — you have both parents, and you can choose which one you’re closest to.
The Split, in a way — your mother is someone you never got to see while your twin does, and you can grow jealous or want to seek her out because the parent you do get to see is your criminal father, who is very much not your biggest fan.
God Syndicate mentions your mother in flashbacks as someone who protected you from your abusive father, and you can shape your relationship with her.
The Sword of Rhivenia has the simp mother.
Honor Amongst Thieves lets you have two mothers depending on your childhood path, and Bladeweaver has the adoptive master/disciple duo you call uncle and aunt.

There are probably more, but these are the ones I remember. Though now that I think about it, there aren’t that many IFs with a single father figure either, they either go out for milk, hate your guts, or, if they’re actually decent, end up dying (like in Vendetta and Sanguine Sky).

I think the author moved to twine due to money\monetisation issues. Tbh, understandable, but I think it might've killed the creative flow. But I am very bummed because Exile was one of my favs. Pathetic traumatised meow meow: the game, but the MC actually has good reasons for that.
And don't forget that they promised rewrite\remake after the backlash in.... (checks steam) 2023, and it has been dead silence ever since. I'd say they tanked their reputation with this one.

I got them on my first playthrough without even trying that hard, it just happened that my MC’s personality naturally lined up with theirs, so I stuck with them for every playthrough afterward. It also helps that, as far as I know, we’re Sero’s only disciple, because the second I saw Varyn pick Aeran, I immediately ruled her out as a mentor. There is only room for one favorite disciple, and it’s me. And it’s definitely not because Sero is the Grandmaster. Completely unrelated, obviously

Yeah well, im done with them. Don't care about rewrites or other promised ****. And every time i see some new dev studio kickstarting **** - im watching from sidelines. It's almost always comes to them mismanaging money, coming to conclusion its not enough for them in the end and yada yada.

Have I misunderstood a post from a month or two ago from the Keyframes tumblr account or do the routes end badly by default? The post seemed to imply it would be selfish of the MC to stay in the relationship instead of breaking up. I don't have the original content for that ask being sent in and answered so all I have to go off of is that post and my assumptions. If true then I'm no longer interested in the game.
I think it has to do with him having his own narrative line and being a RO only if certain conditions are met. So he's like a secret/niche RO. I can spoil you the latest chapter where it becomes clear what's up (tho I recommend you play it yourself, it's a fun one) of you want.
Ugh, Wayfarer is like one of my fav IFs but the wait between the chapters is soooo dang long...
