Stories that left you disappointed for a reason

I'm honestly shocked that authors who called out the community on the cog forums and said they will never have a forum there have not also called out the overall tumblr IF community
Because where would they be without the tumblr IF community?
(but also I'm so out of the loop about any IF drama that idk what the poly incident is or what else happened recently)

Might have been the jealousy ask (scenario ask about a possesive/jealous MC turned lecture on healthy relationships), but this particular author used to do this quite a bit.
I can't recall the exact ask, so it could have been. But yeah, as you said, they have a ****ing track record of doing that **** atp :ROFLMAO:

To summarize the poly incident for you in hundred words or less😂
Friendly fire: ON
Lgbtq+ fighting against their own, because of the aforementioned parasocial behavior.
Poly person comparing that poly relationship is in the same category as what the predators do to kids.
Maybe not to that degree, but they did say that it was a mental illness, which is always a good way for the Tumblr crowd to go completely insane.
So yeah, that's the gist of it:ROFLMAO:

Oh, I forgot to add a nice little fun fact, how the poly person is all for mpreg bs and all that, but can't fathom poly relationships:ROFLMAO: What a time to be alive

True, though just because a community is needed doesn't mean it can't be critiqued.

The poly drama was someone who went on anon and sent the same ask that basically said "is there poly in your game? i hope not" to maybe hundreds of IF accounts even some which only had a handful of followers. When they were called a troll they then started sending in more asks saying that they weren't and got very mad no one was taking them seriously. They were so mad they went to reddit and spoke about it and also regularly complained on tumblr and their account on tumblr was found. This turned into the IF community thinking that everyone has it out for poly romances and led to some authors thinking about adding poly just to spite the anon which is kinda messed up and insensitive.

Also, related but not really. The author who discovered who the anon is is funnily enough related to my previous statement on rude authors. They're not that nice. I'd say maybe write your work instead of scouring the internet for trolls but their writing isn't all that good.

Ah, I know this poly drama. To be honest, the person just seems to be someone who lashed out and was disrespectful. (I would say they were maybe not an English speaker and were just awkward with their wording but I mean they are just a hater.)

I don’t think everyone in the IF community started thinking people had it out for poly…and the people who did are that part of the IF community who lashes out at everything. Which, I never really got either.

It’s like this subset of people believe everyone has it out for them, their author’s story, or the author themself sometimes. It gets really tiring reading their comments sometimes.

But beyond that, I really wished authors would just not interact with “trolls” if they think they’re trolls.

If they’re trolls, why are you interacting with them? Just ignore them. I really feel like trolls don’t need to be made as big of a deal as some people currently make them out to be.

There’s no need to make something that someone hates (whether that person hates it for wrong reasons or not). Because you weren’t going to add that in the first place!

Why are you wasting energy on something just to spite someone who has little significance in the end!

And sometimes I feel like authors respond to haters too much. People will ask and say they dislike or dropped or XYZ the story because of this or that. Which they don’t need to send that to the author really, but when the author responds and says something like “well I don’t care! I have other readers!”

I really just want to say, you don’t need to respond to them! It’s at least bothering you in some way for you to even respond.

As an aside, I also know the author who outted the poly-hater anon. Last I read it, we were barely into the story and hadn’t even met all the ROs yet

I looked at their tumblr to then see hundreds of answers to asks about the ROs, and decided this was probably a game that would not be finished any time soon…

Yup. Dream is there to have a goody two shoes facade, while being a **** person like the many others. And yeah, you're probably right about the story, though I haven't read it personally, nor am I planning to 😂
I swear, getting back at poly person who just wanted to know what to play or not to play depending on the whole poly thing is ridiculous. Like, you're about to waste your time now, adding the whole poly route which you didn't intend just to spite them? If any author wrote that, you can just ditch them, since that story is about to become a **** show

Because most of the active tumblr authors thrive on the reception of a clapback since they're just clout goblins moonlighting as IF authors. Time and time again we see them eventually give up on their WIP when the work piles up and shift to another online sphere to feed themselves.

Oh no! That my favourite game series!! I'm disappointed but truly not surprised

This, it's one of the way they get popularity with their IF's is to create drama. Tumblr thrives on it, and the IF community

Playing Bastard of Camelot again and my goodness is Elaine annoying. Not just annoying but also extremely forced as a LI and friend. One scene had 4 romance options with the rest of the options platonic and no matter what you choose, Mordred is drooling over Elaine. This is post 'rewriting' (because let's be real she put 0 effort into it) it because people complained that she was too forced btw.

Betting money that this is part of the reason Llama is delaying chapter 5 updates. She needed to rewrite her outline because the original idea for Chapter 5 was Mordred falling in love with their brother's fiancée and helping her become a knight and the original backlash made her abandon ship. Because that's the only way I could be ok with this trash fire.

chapter 5 updates
I feel like this particular chapter is already extremely bloated, and forced Elaine content doesn't help. Past plot-relevant scenes, interacting with a character really should be optional. It's not just about Elaine, too, as unskippable character scenes turn playing through into a slog; Infamous has a bit of the same problem.
Actually, scratch that, the entire childhood segment is starting to feel bloated by now. Also, hint: if you want to make it clear that a character is disliked, maybe don't force friendships onto them left and right (yes, this is about poor hated Mordred who atm doesn't feel hated all that much).

I fell out of love with it sadly after they maimed the lore. Maybe I'll come back to it but only Origins, I think. I loved 2 but I just don't want the story progressing past Origins anymore.

Yeah, the fandom is truly horrible. That's why when I found out a bunch of them are also IF fans the unwarranted animosity and fights made from nothing started making a lot of sense. The DA fandom always assumes the worst of people and causes drama on a whim off of misunderstandings. And treats these dramas as plights they're going through meanwhile the DA fandom has been the most racist, homophobic, biphobic, and ignorant fandom I've seen all while thinking they're the most politically aware, just, and kind people. That's why when an anon simply asks, as an example, "Are there going to be spaceships in your game?" their rabid fans will assume bad intent and assume and that the person asking is only asking because they do not want spaceships in the game. You know, the anon could be asking just because they're curious or even because they are interested in IFs with what they're asking about. If you've ever wondered why people are so quick to hate, it's the DA fandom.

I believe it was voted #2 right after the CN animated show about gems. I understand why. I don't think they've done polls on worst fandoms since it would be interesting if they ever returned it.

Mordred has a grand total of 3 bullies and by chapter 5 it's really just Lot. Not counting Lancelot because he's 1. the obvious villian and 2. hasn't actually done anything towards Mordred yet. Everyone else automatically loves Mordred the moment they meet them.

That being said, the story has very few reoccurring characters. The characters you interact with the most are your parents, your adoptive dad, your step-dad, half-brother, your childhood friend (possible sweetheart) and his best friend. Only two of those characters are noted to dislike Mordred in any form, and one of those people was just an immature kid trying to copy his dad. Not really a cast that lends itself to showing that Mordred is hated. Especially when you consider Morgana's reputation alone is enough of a deterrent for randoms with Arthur threatening the Solomons solidifying it. It's an easy fix tbh, just need a scene or two showing Mordred dealing with people treating them badly without anyone else from the cast stepping in, show the reactions of the background as well, have people see what's happening and either do nothing or automatically side with the bully. Another Alana Solomon but now as reoccurring character.

Edit: I forgot dragon friend, which is also not a character that would led itself towards showing Mordred is hated.

I'd agree with you since this chapter also covers reintroducing Nimue and Galahad, meeting with Merlin, possible conflict with Lancelot, Maybe a scene with Genevieve, a failed wedding, making Elaine a knight and teenage nonsense like getting drunk, (possibly) having *** with the boyfriend you've had since you were ten or discovering that you're actually asexual.

Except, absolutely none of it exists RN outside of the first and last parts. Elaine's introduction makes up roughly 60% of what we have of Chapter 5 and it's such a massive slog to go through it makes the chapter feel bloated when the chapter hasn't even actually begun as yet.

I always thought Morgana was Mordred's biggest bully. And don't even get me started on the limited choices you have: Morgana plans everything, and you can't go against it...

I don’t care about Elaine and Gareth’s wedding, and I care even less about Elaine and her future. Are there three scenes meant to "save" Elaine from her marriage? And Accolon following Morgana’s orders and helping Elaine train? It doesn’t make sense

You literally can’t take revenge on Merlin or Arthur because nobody has done anything to Mordred. All the revenge comes from Morgana’s paranoia

And what about that stupid conversation with Nimue?

because nobody has done anything to Mordred.
^this. It would take more than someone being a little mean or distrustful for me to consider Mordred as hated.
They are not even barred from anything or anywhere lol... Not banished, not forbidden from entering X Y Z, allowed knighthood, allowed a dragon, no one does anything to Morgana despite all the bs she does (regardless if we believe it justified or not)...
